No.50 Hiyoriyama Park
Hiyoriyama Park is situated next to historic Sakata Port overlooking the Japan Sea. The park’s symbol is its six-sided wooden lighthouse erected in 1895 to safely guide ships. A half-scale model of Sengoku-bune wooden junk ship is also on display in the park. During sakura season when the Sakata Hiyoriyama Sakura Festival is held, visitors can enjoy around 250 sakura including somei yoshino, shidarezakura, double-blossomed yaezakura and wild yamazakura.
