No.41 Sargent Cherry Trees at Nishi-Zao Pasture
A cluster of wild oyamazakura stand in open pastureland on a plateau 600 meters above sea level in Nishi-Zao. Visitors can park in the parking lot and walk about 15 minutes to the area with the wild sakura, notable for their large, deep pink blossoms. Some of the trees are an estimated 100 years old. The area also offers panoramic views of snow-capped mountains and the city of Yamagata below.
