This area of Yamagata is home to several large old edohigan sakura, among them the Kamanokoshi cherry tree at Kamanokoshi Noson Park estimated to be 800 years old. Unfortunately, the tree has been in poor health recently and appears to have died. However, the deep pink sakura to its right is said to be its 70-year-old child and is seen as the park’s future symbol.
