Shiwa Shiroyama Park is located on a hill 180 meters above sea level. In spring, the hill becomes a sea of pale pink as around 2,000 sakura including somei yoshino, edohigan, and double-blossomed yaezakura bloom. The sakura are framed by gorgeous scenery, including the mountains of Iwate, the town below, and traces of castle ruins in the park. From late April to early May, the Shiwa Shiroyama Sakura Festival welcomes visitors, and night illuminations are also planned.
