No.18 Weeping Cherry Trees of the Battlefield
Kassenba no Shidarezakura (Weeping Cherry Trees of the Battlefield) are two large shidarezakura that stand close to each other on the site of a famous samurai battle that took place some 1,000 years ago in the Heian Period. The trees are an estimated 170 years old and are surrounded by fields of rapeseed. The bright yellow blossoms stand in gorgeous contrast to the deep pink sakura cascading to the ground.
