No.11 Kannonji River Cherry Trees
The Kannonji River in the town of Inawashiro does not have concrete banks like so many rivers in Japan, but instead is left in its natural state with green grasses growing on both sides. The small river is lined for about one kilometer on both sides with somei yoshino and other varieties of sakura, which form a pink tunnel in spring. The contrast of the green grass and water against the pink blossoms is simply sublime.
