No.13 Ishibe Cherry Tree
The Ishibe cherry tree in Aizu-Wakamatsu is a variety called edohigan. Its age is estimated at more than 650 years. It has a total of eight or so trunks, making it look like more than one tree, and stands some 11 meters tall with branches spreading out for 19 meters. The area, surrounded by fields with Mt. Iimori nearby, is so scenic that it was used in the opening of a historical drama TV series.
