Yonomori Park in Minami-Soma City boasts some 300 sakura, including many somei yoshino that are over 100 years old and form a tunnel of sakura every year in mid-April. The sakura are lit up at night by paper lanterns and festooned with flying carp too, creating a charming sight. Food vendors are at the park during sakura season to cater to the many visitors celebrating spring.
