No.77 Iwagami Fureai Forest
This forest began with plantings of somei yoshino over eight hectares in 1958 and expanded to plantings of 10,000 sakura in 22 varieties across 30 hectares from 1973 to 1975. The hard soil and harsh winters have taken their toll on the trees, which number around 3,000 today thanks to the conservation efforts of local groups. The various varieties take turns blooming from late April to late May and are especially picturesque around the small reservoir.
