No.71 Hinokinai Riverbank
The Hinokinai River is close to the Kakunodate Samurai Residences and its shidarezakura. Some 400 somei yoshino sakura were planted for two kilometers along its riverbank in 1934. The trees are relatively old for somei yoshino but have been well tended. Each spring starting in late April, their long branches burst into bloom to create a gorgeous tunnel of sakura. The riverbank has a walking path and plenty of space for sitting.
