Atago Park is home to around 700 sakura, mostly somei yoshino but also including a grand old edohigan estimated at more than 300 years old. The edohigan is prized as the northernmost sakura growing on Honshu. It is 18 meters tall with a trunk approximately 5.3 meters around and is a city-designated Natural Monument. The Noheji Spring Festival features a road relay race, singing shows and night illuminations by garden lanterns, creating an enchanting atmosphere.
