Besides the beautiful sakura, Aobayama Park is also the site of the Sendai Castle ruins. The tower at the main gate has been reconstructed and creates an otherworldly site next to the approximately 370 somei yoshino and other sakura planted in the park. Stroll among the sakura, gaze at the statue of famous lord Date Masamune and the traces of the former castle, and feel transported back in time.
