The lone cherry tree at Taruguchi Pass is located deep in snow country, among the tall mountains of Yamagata Prefecture. It is there that a lone oyamazakura stands, its deep pink blossoms contrasting exquisitely against the snow capping the mountains. The sakura bloom from late April to early May, but the pass may be closed depending on the snowfall. Providence rewards visitors to snow country with a view of this beauty.
